Car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens, and many of these are 100% preventable. Together we can reduce destructive decisions that cost our lives.
Students Against Destructive Decisions was founded by and for students. Through advocacy and education, we take active steps to empower each other while countering decisions that put our lives at risk, such as driving under the influence and driving distracted.
Students and teens are the future. We are proud to have a seat at the table in discussions around emerging technologies that have the potential to improve future road safety, such as fully autonomous vehicle technology.
- Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for 15- to 20-year-olds in the United States.
- Alcohol-related fatality rates are nearly twice as high for 18-, 19-, and 20-year-olds as for those over age 21. (NHTSA)
- The risk of a crash involving a teenage driver increases with each additional teen passenger in the vehicle.
